Southside Hope is providing learning opportunities for local Marion-Franklin youth for a successful transition to adulthood. The teens, ages 14-17, recently completed a week of orientation and training on safety and service in The Bridge to Your Future program. The youth provide lawn care service to local residents who struggle to keep their lawn maintained over the summer. They also participate in weekly community cleanups and other community-building events.
“We are bridging the gap for the young people to be better prepared for adulthood, to to connect with their neighbors, and to instill a sense of neighborhood pride in the community,” says director, Lori Fisher.
The Bridge to Your Future program is made possible from funding by the Columbus Department of Neighborhoods. Along with the value of building community and service, the participating youth will explore career opportunities, learn financial literacy, and practice interviewing skills.
